Debate Society: an idea last night, a demo this morning.

Last night I had an idea: Debate Society — debate with AI before you debate with people.

By this morning, it was a playable demo. So, in the spirit of building in public, I’m sharing it while there’s still plenty to work out.

Think Wordle for debating: one daily motion, a side to defend, and three short rounds to make your case. You can type or speak your argument, but the countdown keeps you honest. Being assigned a position you don’t agree with is part of the fun.

The idea centres on two distinct AI roles: a Debater committed to the opposing position, and an independent Chair judging both your reasoning and how well you express it.

This is explicitly a demo. The opponent is currently scripted and the verdict is illustrative. It tests the format; the live AI roles are still to come. You can reset and explore three sample motions.

I’d love to know whether it makes you want another go—and what you’d need to trust the Chair’s judgement.
